My son, Larry Blakeley http://www.royblakeley.name/larry_blakeley/larryblakeley_photos_jpeg.htm manages this Web site.

Major Roy James Blakeley (December 10, 1928 - July 22, 1965) - USAF (KIA)

When I was young my dad would say
Come on son let's go out and play

No matter how hard I try
No matter how many tears I cry
No matter how many years go by
I still can't say goodbye

- "I Still Can't Say Goodbye," Performer: Chet Atkins

And this is what Lori said to her dear friend, Ashley Devling http://www.loriblakeley.name/loriblakeley_scrapbook/loriblakeley_scrapbook.htm, with the knowledge that she would die soon - and just days before she left this earthly world:

"I am OK with this. I don't understand 'why,' but I believe ... I believe God ... is using me and my situation in some way to bring someone closer to Him. I have prayed and asked Him, 'Who is this person,' but, as yet, He has not answered."

Now, be aware, that Lori's voice, as well as her entire being, was very weak and for her to get out these words took a determined effort and a long time to express this to Ashley.

When I was told about what Lori had said, my first impulse was to think to myself, and wonder, "Is it me? Am I the one?"

Or, could it be friends of hers in need? http://www.loriblakeley.name/letter_excerpt_friend20050517.htm

Or, could it be an unknown soul behind the 20,902 hits to Lori's Web site for the week immediately following her death on May 4, 2005? http://www.loriblakeley.name/lori_webstats200505.jpg

I believe God ... I believe God knew he did not have time to tell Lori, "who, or why?" For just possibly, there were just too many to disclose to her. And, possibly, it wasn't important for her to know then, anyway. But I believe ... she knows now.

And, I believe she knows that her own loving father dropped to his knees many times since then; repented, and asked for His forgiveness of my sins, His grace, and His mercy on me. And, I asked for His help in my search within myself for any trace of Satan residing, just laying in wait, if you will, in disguise to prevent me from going to that "upper room" that Lori went to. I, too, want to take the "road not taken" as much as it should be today. http://www.royblakeley.name/larry_blakeley/poetry/road_not_taken.htm

And, I am assured, she is now, and was then, so thankful for being such a profound influence on my life. Imagine that, a child being the teacher. But, you know, Jesus was a child, and He was a teacher, also. For, "The Child is father of the Man; And I could wish my days to be Bound each to each by natural piety." http://www.royblakeley.name/larry_blakeley/poetry/heart_leaps_up.htm

And, I believe God intended for all of us to be led "beside the still waters.".. to reflect upon just how in need we truly are for His help in our lives? And, why? http://www.royblakeley.name/larry_blakeley/quotations/twenty-third_psalm_king_james.htm

Why are we here in the first place? Is the end of this earthly life as far as we go, or is it just a segment for demonstrating to Him that we have accepted and believe ... believe Jesus ... is Christ, is His Son, who died for something - don't you suppose?

What do you suppose His death on Calvary's Cross signified? Well, you are in luck. It's all there. All the answers - in His own Word, the Bible - a divine manuscript of His Story for us to read "beside the still waters," and learn, and believe. And, I don't know about you, but for me, this book will become pretty worn out henceforth. http://www.royblakeley.name/larry_blakeley/articles/monthly_articles/daniel_wallace20040802_abstract.htm

.".. So we don't get into the habit of standing back and looking at our lives and saying, Is this it? Is this all I want? Is something missing?'

'You need someone to probe you in that direction. It won't just happen automatically.'" http://www.royblakeley.name/larry_blakeley/quotations.htm

And, I wonder - why was I left behind? Possibly, He isn't through with me. Possibly, there's more work to be done on me until then. Or, even possibly, and this is what I prefer to believe, He wants me to tell His Story through Lori's story. A story of faith, assurance, hope, dignity, love, and complete trust that Jesus Christ was who He said He was ... and everything is going to be OK for her because she believed ... and for you and I, as long as we believe.

But, this story will take time and that's what Lori was out of. So, it will be up to me to do this. And, if God willing, I may have "miles to go before I sleep" here on earth and joyfully join others in Heaven that have gone before me. http://www.royblakeley.name/larry_blakeley/poetry/stopping_by_woods.htm

And, quite possibly, I, too, may be remembered, as Lori and her Lord Jesus Christ, for building "a bridge to span the tide." http://www.royblakeley.name/larry_blakeley/poetry/bridge_builder.htm

Happy Birthday, America. And, thanks - Dad - for selflessly giving your earthly life for this country we both love. http://www.royblakeley.name/index.htm May you be embracing our sweet Lori until all those that love her, and those of us that love you, are joined together, again.
