I attended a funeral today (October 2, 2004). What was missing at this funeral? Fathers.

What was peculiar to this funeral? The young were there to bury themselves.

What was the most disturbing incident for me? When the officiating reverend - Larry Ravert, spoke of life, Justin's life, and made a statement to the effect that Justin had "lived a full life, even in his short time here."

What demon from hell below could have possibly consumed this man of the cloth's sense of truth, taken him hostage for that one moment, and possessed his faculties of good judgement to speak to this young, hurting audience with such an absolutely, unequivocal, outlandish, irresponsbile, and outright - lie.

And, somehow, only 6,778 days later, he decided to leave this world - alone - by hanging himself at his home in Plano, Texas, on Tuesday, the 28th day of September, 2004.

What continues to haunt me is this? How? What? And, why? How could such a young person decide for himself that he had no alternative left, but to follow the path eulogized in Pappa Roach's, "The Last Resort," MP3 audio file/lyrics at http://www.royblakeley.name/larry_blakeley/songs/last_resort.htm.

And, why did this happen?

Can't much blame you - unless, of course, you are in a position to help a confused young soul.

My Web site reaches out to as many as 2,500 hits per day - and, I this enables me to bring this sad situation to some mainstream folks that need to be aware that this is going on - all too often. - Larry Blakeley

Using Papa Roach's song, "The Last Resort" is a way of using music with my storytelling. This song is as appropriate to this part of the article on my Web site as using poetry such as "The Raven" by Edgar Allan Poe on another section.

Since music (and, I mean all music - from classical to rock to whatever other labels are being tossed around) has always been important to me, I combine the lyrics with my articles in order to help communicate thoughts, ideas, feelings, etc. and just add another dimension besides just plain written word.

In any event, this song is an important communication of pain and despair - blunt, but unquestionably, honest.

It's really hard to look at my abstract post and get a feel for what this particular article is all about - in fact, it is about several issues - but, most in particular, fathers that have abandoned their children.

P.S. Posting here was mostly done to see if this is a good way to communicate issues that I address at my father's Web site (roy blakeley), who was killed in Vietnam in 1965 - a jet fighter pilot based out of George AFB, California, flying F-104 Starfighters.

My other Web site http://www.larryblakeley.com is concerned with "Information and Knowledge Management Systems."

Both Web sites are free of pop-ups, etc. and are developed by me - and, most imporantly - FREE.

You guys are retards.

What he is basically saying is that, the song "Last Resort" is what many people are feeling like. And he is using the lyrics from the song to help people who feel suicidal.

He obviously posted on this forum because, there may be people that feel this way, and that we are Papa Roach fans, so its an obvious area to try and get support from.

This is really the first time that I have posted an abstract of one of my articles on a "board," so maybe I need to be more clear when I do this in the future.

One person got it right - this is what he wrote:

.".. What he is basically saying is that, the song "Last Resort" is what many people are feeling like. And he is using the lyrics from the song to help people who feel suicidal.

He obviously posted on this forum because, there may be people that feel this way, and that we are Papa Roach fans, so its an obvious area to try and get support from."

I am not a blogger, but rather someone who is occupied with writing. I am 50 years old, have finished-off 2 of my 3 children, one remains in high school with a couple of more years, endured life's hardship's - survived, and want to use my Web site to cover issues that I believe are important and need to be exposed to the "main-stream" American public - on the level of the youth, and through their music.

I promote no song, no songwriter (except, Johhny Cash), and I do not promote what it may mean to me, except to place them in my writings that I feel like a song needs to be.

But, as I stated in the subject article -

."... Oh, sure I can recall a few songwriters of the 1960's and 1970's that tried to describe what they saw as life's inequities, but, in my opinion, for the most part, this pool of songwriters never even came close to the depth of feeling exemplified by today's songwriters. This period was typified by electronic experimentation, aerobatics of the stage, and theatrical shock antics of myth and make-believe, instead of mastery of the poetic, lyrical storytelling of life's experiences that many of the writers of today produce. In my opinion, the lyrics to the songs written in the 1960's and 1970's do not hold a candle to the depth of feelings conveyed in the lyrics written today.

The degree of honest songwriting seems to me to be their way of collaborating and communicating with others of their generation - these experiences of abandonment. These messages of truth are just not ready for the "prime time" majority - neither is an article such as this. It's just too accusatory and honest. MP3 audio file/lyrics at http://www.royblakeley.name/larry_blakeley/songs/king_gone.htm They just don't want to hear about their failures - preferring to remain in the safety and comfort of their own convoluted lies to everyone. Many are stuck in the past - a past that lip-synced concepts of "peace" and "love." But, many of us have come to see through all of this false ideological recitals of concepts such as "peace" and "love" as just empty messages - messages that would be abandoned by most just as rapidly as they were embraced - to be ultimately expunged by these "cop-outs" from this era in favor of material wealth accumulation..."

It breaks my heart - as a man, as a parent, and as member of the "male gender" - to attend these funerals.

Some of you - please, let me say this, again - my "abstract" of the article is to focus-in what are the highlights of this particular article, but it is over 5,000 words - and, it is going to have some of you "chasing your tail" - if, you try to understand what all of what my abstract refers to, buy posting thoughts without reading it.

I do this "gratis," as well as the time I devote to helping some of those on the sidelines of the "digital world," scratching their heads, and wondering, "where in the world do I start?"

This information is at http://www.larryblakeley.com

"I give away everything I own." - Larry Blakeley

Please, just delete my post - if you need to. I am currently working on another article that deals with the "American male," my gender, and covers "questioning" issues, such as:

.".. Many of the women of today have become hardened to the male gender. They have seen the man's eyes go from blue to black, clenched their fists behind their back, and question how to fix the damage that has been done by the male...."

I want each of you to understand, but do not have the time to dwell on your questions - unless, you have read an article of mine, and want more information, or whatever.

In this event, email me at larry@larryblakeley

Like I said, I'm 50 and have "miles to go before I sleep, " but the hourglass of time is depleting for me, so I must exit, and "carry on."

Good luck with your life - the message is, "don't do it. Some of us do care and can relate our experiences that may possibly help to sort out this confusing and tough world, today." - Larry Blakeley, Dalllas, Texas
